LPG Cylinder Price: Will gas cylinders become more expensive from April 1? Click here to know the details

The conflict between Iran, Israel, and the US could drag on for several more months. American troops have landed in the Gulf. The central government has claimed that the country has sufficient fuel and gas reserves to last for the next two months. Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has dismissed calls for a nationwide lockdown. He clarified that the government is not currently considering any such proposal. But if the conflict drags on, will gas cylinder prices really increase from April 1st? Citizens are concerned about this.

The central government has clarified that, given the current global situation, there is no shortage of fuel or other essential commodities in the country. According to the ministry, India has sufficient reserves of oil and gas. Preparations have already been completed for the next 60 days. Furthermore, India is now importing crude oil from more than 41 countries. There are no obstacles due to the Homberg Strait. Nevertheless, lines at gas stations have not diminished. Many petrol pumps have closed. Those that do sell petrol and diesel remain crowded.

Will LPG cylinders become expensive?

Currently, there are few signs of abatement of tensions between Iran, Israel, and the US. The Gulf tensions are likely to impact petrol and diesel, as well as natural gas. Therefore, LPG consumers are likely to be affected on April 1, 2026. Of course, there has been no official news or statement from the central government regarding this. Oil distribution companies (OMCs) review gas prices on the first of every month. During tensions and oil crises in the Middle East, crude oil and gas prices are likely to rise significantly. Therefore, the coming date will reveal whether consumers truly enjoy April Fools' Day or their pockets will be affected.

In March 2026, the price of a domestic gas cylinder increased by ₹60. Now, the price of a gas cylinder is around ₹853. This price varies from city to city and includes employee travel expenses. Commercial gas prices have also increased, and a significant shortage has emerged. Due to the Iran war, significant changes in LPG, CNG, and PNG prices are expected from April 1st.
