Indian automobile manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra has reported a significant milestone in its electric vehicle segment, selling over 41,000 electric SUVs within just ten months. This achievement underscores the growing popularity of Mahindra’s EV offerings, including models such as the XEV 9e and BE 6, which were launched in November 2024.
Dual Strategy: Traditional and Electric SUVs
Mahindra’s recent updates reveal a two-pronged strategy: strengthening its traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) SUVs while expanding its foothold in the electric vehicle market. The company highlighted the launch of the new XUV 7XO, alongside plans to introduce two new ICE SUVs in 2026. These include an updated version of the popular Scorpio range—featuring the Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic—and a major facelift of the three-door Thar, reinforcing the company’s commitment to evolving its iconic models.
Customer Convenience: Special Remote Service Vans
In addition to strong sales, Mahindra has introduced eVANs, special remote service vans for electric SUV owners in the Delhi-NCR region. These vans offer on-site solutions for software updates, diagnostic checks, minor electrical issues, and basic mechanical inspections. Given that many EV issues are software-related, this service reduces the need for customers to visit service centers, saving both time and effort.
Record-Breaking EV Sales
Since deliveries began in March 2025, Mahindra’s electric SUVs have received a positive market response, reflecting growing confidence in EV technology among Indian consumers. The sale of over 41,000 units in ten months positions Mahindra as a leading player in the country’s emerging electric SUV segment.
With continued investment in both traditional and electric SUVs, Mahindra & Mahindra is set to strengthen its market presence while offering innovative solutions for customers seeking performance, convenience, and sustainability.
