National Herald Case: In the National Herald case, the ED told the court that Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi benefited from the proceeds of crime worth Rs 142 crore. The properties were confiscated in November 2023.

National Herald Case: ED has made a big claim against Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi in the National Herald case. The investigating agency ED told the open court that Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi took advantage of crime money worth Rs 142 crore. ED i.e. Enforcement Directorate also told the court on Wednesday that prima facie a case of money laundering is made out against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi and others in the National Herald case. Hearing was held today in Rouse Avenue Court in the money laundering case related to National Herald.

ASG Raju, who appeared for the ED in the Rouse Avenue Court, told the court, "Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi have benefited from 'proceeds of crime' of Rs 142 crore." He said that the properties related to the National Herald newspaper were confiscated in November 2023 and till then the accused (Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi) were 'enjoying the proceeds of crime'.

ASG Raju said, "Proceeds of crime not only include properties obtained from scheduled crime but also any other criminal activity which is 'linked' to the proceeds of crime." The ED alleged that the accused not only committed money laundering by acquiring the 'proceeds of crime' but it continued even while they were in possession of the same.

The Enforcement Directorate said that a 'prima facie' case of money laundering has been made out against Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi and others in the National Herald case. The ED said this before Special Judge Vishal Gogane when initial arguments were being given on whether or not to take cognizance of the case. At present, the hearing is going on.
