The countdown has begun for the launch of the 2026 Maruti Brezza. Maruti Suzuki is expected to unveil the updated compact SUV on July 23, bringing a host of upgrades in design, features, technology, and performance. Customer deliveries are likely to begin soon after the official debut.
Recent test mules and spy shots suggest that the new Brezza will receive a comprehensive refresh aimed at strengthening its position in the highly competitive compact SUV segment.
Turbo-Petrol Engine Could Debut in the Brezza
One of the biggest expected updates is the introduction of a 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine, marking the first time the Brezza could be offered with a turbocharged powertrain.
The engine is expected to produce around 100 bhp and 147 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Reports also suggest that the smaller engine could help the model attract an 18% GST rate, potentially making it more competitively priced.
Maruti is also expected to continue offering the familiar 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine in select variants, with both 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission options.
More Practical CNG Variant
The Brezza is likely to retain its CNG version, but with a major practical upgrade. Reports indicate that the CNG cylinder could be mounted beneath the vehicle instead of inside the boot, freeing up luggage space and improving everyday usability.
Premium Cabin With More Features
The interior is expected to receive a significant makeover with several premium additions, including:
- Larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system
- Updated seat upholstery
- Improved cabin materials and finish
- Ventilated front seats
- Power-adjustable driver's seat
- Ambient lighting
These upgrades aim to make the cabin feel more modern and comfortable.
Level-2 ADAS Could Arrive for the First Time
The new Brezza is also expected to take a major leap in safety by introducing Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
The suite may include features such as:
- Forward collision warning and avoidance assistance
- Lane keep assist
- Other advanced driver assistance technologies designed to improve safety and convenience
Fresh Exterior Styling
While the overall silhouette is expected to remain familiar, the SUV could receive several styling enhancements, including:
- Connected LED tail lamps
- Redesigned front grille
- Updated front and rear bumpers
- Newly designed four-spoke alloy wheels
These changes are expected to give the Brezza a more premium and contemporary appearance.
Expected Price and Rivals
The updated Brezza is likely to carry a slight premium over the current model, which is priced between ₹8.26 lakh and ₹12.86 lakh (ex-showroom).
Once launched, it will continue to compete with popular compact SUVs such as the Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV 3XO, and Skoda Kylaq.
With a refreshed design, a feature-packed cabin, a possible turbo-petrol engine, and advanced safety technology, the new Maruti Brezza is expected to strengthen its appeal in one of India's most competitive SUV segments.
