Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has once again attracted attention for an unusual public act. During a government event in Patna on Monday, he placed a flower pot on the head of Dr. S. Siddharth, the Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department — a moment that was caught on camera and has since gone viral on social media.
The incident occurred at the Lalit Narayan Mishra Institute of Economic Development and Social Change, where an appointment letter distribution ceremony was underway. As part of the welcome tradition in Bihar, CM Nitish was presented with a flower pot instead of a bouquet. Upon receiving it from Dr. Siddharth, he unexpectedly set the pot on the senior bureaucrat’s head.
The officer, displaying quick presence of mind, gently removed the pot from his head and handed it to an aide, avoiding further awkwardness. The audience, meanwhile, appeared amused by the unexpected gesture.
Social Media Reacts, Video Circulates Widely
A video of the incident, shared by the Press Trust of India, has rapidly gained traction online, with users sharing mixed reactions—ranging from amusement to criticism.
CM Also Inaugurated New Facilities
During the same event, CM Nitish laid the foundation stones for several infrastructure projects, including:
-
A new annex building worth ₹2.87 crore
-
A warden block costing ₹4.90 crore
-
A startup block worth ₹5.33 crore
Nitish’s Unconventional Moments in the Past
This isn’t the first time Nitish Kumar has found himself in the spotlight for an unexpected gesture. In November 2023, he attempted to touch Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s feet during the foundation ceremony of AIIMS Darbhanga, only to be gently stopped by the PM. Similarly, during a Holi Milan function in March 2025, he was seen bending toward BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, who quickly stopped him.
