Patna Student Death Mystery: SIT Recreates Scene by Dropping Four Dummies from 7th Floor

The mystery surrounding the death of a Class 12 student in Patna has deepened, as police on Tuesday recreated the incident scene to determine whether the girl fell accidentally or was pushed. The case pertains to a 16-year-old student who died after falling from the seventh floor of a building in Phulwari Sharif.

According to police officials, the Special Investigation Team (SIT), along with the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team, conducted a detailed reconstruction of the incident. Four dummies, each matching the deceased student’s weight, were dropped from the seventh floor at different angles to scientifically analyze the circumstances of the fall.

City Superintendent of Police West Bhanu Pratap Singh said the exercise was carried out to objectively examine all possibilities. “A girl died after falling from the seventh floor under the jurisdiction of Phulwari Sharif police station. An SIT was formed to investigate the matter. On Tuesday, the FSL team recreated the scene by dropping four dummies of the same weight as the deceased from various angles. Expert opinions will now be sought, which will help clarify whether the fall was accidental, suicidal, or the result of foul play,” he said.

The incident occurred on February 12 near the AIIMS roundabout in Phulwari Sharif. The student reportedly fell from the terrace of Sumitra Heights Apartments in Hari Nagar. CCTV footage showed her climbing the stairs to the terrace shortly before the fall, but questions remained about what happened next.

Following the incident, police detained four people, including a carpenter and a security guard working at the apartment complex, as part of the investigation. However, their exact role has not yet been established. After the victim’s family raised suspicions, the post-mortem was conducted by a medical board at AIIMS Patna, which found no evidence of sexual assault.
