He explained that gabapentin is commonly prescribed for nerve pain, neuropathic pain, sciatica, and chronic back pain. Doctors specifically instruct patients to take this medication before bedtime and to sit up in bed for a few minutes before getting up in the morning, as it can cause dizziness and loss of balance.

On the other hand, a dangerous trend has emerged of mixing the pill into cold drinks for intoxication. It has been reported that some young people are taking 75mg to 200mg tablets mixed into cold drinks. While a mere 75mg can cause dizziness, taking doses of 300–400mg or more can pose serious risks. It is commonly available at medical stores. This inexpensive drug is being used more for intoxication than for relieving the pain of a pinched nerve. It is easily available and causes addiction quickly. Overdoses can even lead to death.

Dr. Piyush Mittal, head of the Spine Institute at Asarwa Civil Hospital, told us that it provides relief from nerve pain. However, if taken in excess, it can cause drowsiness and drowsiness. Therefore, it should be taken only as prescribed. Excessive use can lead to addiction.

As a general guideline, gabapentin relieves pain and seizures by modulating calcium channel activity in nerve cells and reducing abnormal brain excitability.
