New tensions in West Asia and attacks by Houthi rebels on essential oil plants in Saudi Arabia have impacted global energy supplies. Amid the threat of price hikes, petrol and diesel prices in major Indian cities remained largely stable on September 28. The average  price of petrol in the country was ₹111.21 per liter, while diesel was priced at ₹97.83 per liter.

India's state-owned oil marketing companies are facing severe financial difficulties due to the rapid rise in global crude oil prices. According to rating agency ICRA, these fuel retailers are losing approximately ₹530 crore every day as pump prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas have remained unchanged despite the international rally.

In Mumbai, petrol is available at ₹111.21 per liter, the same as the previous day's rate. Diesel in the financial capital is priced at ₹97.83 per liter. In Delhi, petrol is available at ₹102.12 per liter, while diesel is selling at ₹95.20 per liter, reflecting the national capital's lower fuel prices compared to other metro cities.
