PM Modi Embarks on 4-State Tour: Development Projects Worth Over ₹70,000 Crore to Be Unveiled Across Sikkim, Bengal, Bihar, and UP

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a whirlwind two-day tour of four Indian statesSikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh—starting today, May 29, as he inaugurates and lays the foundation stone for massive infrastructure and development projects aimed at accelerating growth across the eastern belt of India.


Sikkim: Celebrating 50 Years of Statehood

The Prime Minister began his tour in Gangtok, Sikkim, where he participated in the 50th anniversary celebrations of Sikkim’s accession to India, held at Paljor Stadium.

In addition to addressing a public gathering, PM Modi:

  • Unveiled a commemorative coin and stamp

  • Laid the foundation stone for key projects including:

    • A 500-bed district hospital in Namchi worth over ₹750 crore

    • A passenger ropeway in Sangacholing, Pelling

    • A statue of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Atal Amrit Udyan in Gangtok

Tight security arrangements were in place for the high-profile event, and government institutions in Gangtok were closed for the day.


West Bengal: Infrastructure Push in Alipurduar

From Sikkim, PM Modi flew to Alipurduar, West Bengal, where he launched the City Gas Distribution (CGD) project for Alipurduar and Cooch Behar districts. The ₹1,010 crore project aims to:

  • Supply PNG to 2.5 lakh households

  • Provide CNG for vehicles through 19 new stations

  • Support over 100 industries and commercial units

The visit also includes a public rally and a party meeting, marking Modi’s first appearance in Bengal post-‘Operation Sindoor’.


Bihar: Roadshow and Airport Revamp in Patna

By Thursday evening, the Prime Minister reached Patna, where he:

  • Inaugurated the new ₹1,200 crore terminal at Patna Airport, capable of handling 1 crore passengers annually

  • Laid the foundation stone for a new civil enclave at Bihta Airport (₹1,410 crore)

PM Modi also held a grand roadshow in the city, before halting overnight in Bihar.


Day 2: Big Announcements in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh

On Friday, May 30, PM Modi is set to:

  • Launch and inaugurate projects worth ₹48,520 crore in Karakat, Bihar, and address a large public gathering

  • Head to Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, by afternoon to dedicate and inaugurate development works worth ₹20,900 crore. He will also address residents of the region.
