Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has come under criticism for praising senior BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani. Meanwhile, the Congress has distanced itself from Tharoor's statement. Distancing itself from Shashi Tharoor's statement, the Congress said on Sunday that he was speaking in his personal capacity. Congress leader Pawan Khera said that his (Tharoor's) doing so as a member of the Central Working Committee reflects the democratic and liberal spirit of the party.
Advani surrounded for wishing him on his birthday
Earlier, Tharoor had faced criticism for wishing Advani on his birthday and had said that it was unfair to limit the years of service to the nation by the senior BJP leader to one incident, no matter how big it was.
Tharoor's reply to Supreme Court lawyer
Responding to a tweet by senior Supreme Court advocate Sanjay Hegde on Sunday, Tharoor wrote, "I agree, Sanjay Hegde, but limiting his long service to a single incident, no matter how significant, is unfair. Nehruji's entire career cannot be judged by the China fiasco, nor can Indira Gandhi's career be judged solely by the Emergency. I believe we should extend the same courtesy to Advaniji."
