Shock in Lucknow: Woman Constable Found Hanging in Rented Room, Suicide Suspected

A wave of shock and sorrow swept through Lucknow on Tuesday morning after a 27-year-old woman constable, identified as Ritu, was found dead under suspicious circumstances. Her body was discovered hanging in a rented house located in A Block of Ghazipur, where she had been living for several years.

The incident has raised serious questions, as the police are still unsure about what led to the tragic end of the young constable’s life.

Roommate Raised Alarm After Silence

According to police reports, Lady Inspector Geeta, who lives in the same house, became suspicious when Ritu failed to respond to repeated knocks on her door early in the morning. She immediately alerted local police.

When the police arrived and forced the door open, they were met with a heartbreaking sight—Ritu's body hanging from a noose inside the room. The scene sent shockwaves through the neighborhood and among fellow officers.

Posted at Madiyanv Police Station, No Suicide Note Found

Ritu, originally from Amroha, was posted as a constable at the Madiyanv Police Station and had earlier served in the Ghazipur Police Station, which was also the reason for her residence in the area. No suicide note was found at the scene, adding to the mystery surrounding her death.

The Panchnama (preliminary inquest) was conducted in the presence of senior police officers, and the body was sent for postmortem. Her family has been informed and the next course of investigation will begin after their arrival and formal identification.

No Clear Motive Yet, Investigation Ongoing

Police sources have stated that while preliminary inspection of the room and interrogation of neighbors and colleagues has been conducted, no concrete reason has emerged for the apparent suicide. Investigators are awaiting the postmortem report and family statements to understand what might have driven Ritu to take this extreme step.

The tragic death of a young policewoman has not only raised alarms about the mental health crisis among police personnel but has also left the law enforcement community in Lucknow deeply disturbed.
