Tata Punch EV Facelift Launched: 468 km Range, Starting Price ₹6.49 Lakh with BaaS

After months of anticipation, Tata Motors has officially launched the Tata Punch EV facelift in India. The updated electric micro-SUV is priced from ₹9.69 lakh to ₹12.59 lakh (ex-showroom). Making it even more accessible, Tata is also offering a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option, under which the Punch EV can be bought at a starting price of ₹6.49 lakh, with a battery rental cost of ₹2.6 per km. Bookings are now open both online and at dealerships, with MR and LR variants on offer.

Designed to be future-ready, the Punch EV facelift retains its compact proportions while enhancing its SUV-like appeal. Minor changes to the bumper and overall styling bring it closer to Tata’s newer EV design language, seen on models like the Nexon EV and Harrier EV. In the Indian market, it will rival cars such as the Citroën eC3.

On the inside, the Punch EV gets a more premium and tech-forward cabin. Highlights include a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo, touch-based climate controls, a rotary drive selector, leatherette upholstery, and dual-tone dashboard themes. Feature-wise, Tata has packed the SUV with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, a 360-degree camera, voice assistant, rear wiper and defogger, ESP, and six airbags as standard.

Safety remains a strong focus, with six airbags, hill-hold assist, electronic stability program, i-TPMS, and ISOFIX mounts available across all variants. The Punch EV offers a ground clearance of 195 mm and a kerb weight of around 1360 kg, which Tata claims improves overall stability.

In terms of charging, the Punch EV supports three options: a CCS2 DC fast charger, a 7.2 kW wall box charger, and a 3.3 kW home charger. Powering the facelift is a new 40 kWh battery pack that delivers an ARAI-certified range of 468 km, with a real-world range of about 355 km. A smaller 30 kWh battery is also available, offering a range of up to 365 km. Using a DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 20% to 80% in just 26 minutes, while a 15-minute charge can add nearly 135 km of range. Tata is also offering a lifetime warranty on the battery, adding further peace of mind for buyers.

Built on Tata’s new Acti.ev platform, the Punch EV facelift strengthens the brand’s EV portfolio and makes electric mobility more attainable for Indian customers looking for a practical, feature-rich urban SUV.
