Tesla Model Y L Launched in India: New 6-Seater Variant Offers Up to 681 km Range

Tesla Model Y has expanded its lineup in India with the launch of a new long-wheelbase variant called the Model Y L. This version focuses on comfort, space, and range, making it a more family-friendly electric SUV. The biggest highlight is its extended wheelbase, which translates into significantly improved legroom and a more spacious cabin.

The new Model Y L comes with a six-seater layout, featuring captain seats in the second row for added comfort. Tesla has also upgraded the front seats with thigh support extensions, making long drives more relaxing. While the SUV continues with its multi-link suspension setup, it now includes electronically controlled damping and selectable drive modes, enhancing ride quality across different road conditions.

In terms of performance, this new variant stands out with a WLTP-certified range of up to 681 km on a single charge—the highest among all Model Y versions. For comparison, the Long Range version offers around 661 km, while the standard variant delivers about 500 km. The addition of an all-wheel-drive system has also improved acceleration, allowing the Model Y L to go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5 seconds, which is quicker than other variants in the lineup. Despite the performance boost, the top speed remains capped at 201 km/h.

On the design front, the SUV gets new 19-inch Machina 2.0 alloy wheels, adding to its premium appeal. Inside, the cabin comes standard in black, while an optional Zen Grey interior is available at an additional cost. Tesla is also offering multiple exterior color options, with some premium shades priced higher than the standard finish.

Another notable feature is Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) capability, although it comes as an optional add-on and requires an additional payment of around ₹6 lakh. With its extended range, improved comfort, and advanced features, the Model Y L strengthens Tesla’s position in India’s growing electric vehicle market, especially in the premium SUV segment.
