Tied, Burnt, and Tortured: Horrific Case of Domestic Violence Shocks Muzaffarpur

A shocking case of brutal domestic abuse has come to light from Muzaffarpur district in Bihar. A 40-year-old man, Shatrughan Rai, has been arrested for subjecting his wife to horrifying torture, including putting chilli powder in her private parts, burning her with a hot iron, and attempting to give her electric shocks.

The Cruelty Behind Closed Doors

The victim, a mother of three, was reportedly tied up and assaulted on 13th June in Deoria Kothi area. According to her statement, the abuse stemmed from her husband's suspicion of an illicit relationship. After she questioned his own fidelity and suggested a medical test, the man allegedly snapped and inflicted inhuman torture.

No Escape, No Help

The woman claims she was locked in a room, denied food for two days, and branded on her thighs and private parts with a hot iron. Even her mother-in-law and sister-in-law reportedly participated in the torture and offered no support during her suffering.

Rescue and Police Action

It was the neighbours who finally alerted authorities after hearing of the abuse. On 15th June, her brother managed to rescue her and admit her to a hospital, where her condition remains critical. Following the complaint, the accused husband has been arrested, while the police are searching for other members of the family allegedly involved in the incident.

A Grim Reminder

This incident underscores the urgent need for stronger societal awareness and faster intervention in domestic violence cases. While the survivor fights for her life, justice must not be delayed.
