During the Lok Sabha debate on Operation Sindoor, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra launched a scathing attack on the central government, raising serious concerns over national security lapses, especially after the Pahalgam terrorist attack. She highlighted that TRF (The Resistance Front), which claimed responsibility for the attack, had executed 25 attacks in Kashmir since 2020, yet no advance intelligence was available.

“Who Is Responsible for Pahalgam?”

Priyanka questioned the government bluntly: “Who is responsible for this terrorist attack? Who is accountable for the safety of Indian citizens?” She pointed out that TRF, active since 2019, has carried out a series of attacks between April 2020 and April 2025, including the Reasi attack in 2024 which killed 9 and injured 41 people.

“TRF killed 41 security personnel and 27 civilians, injuring 54 in five years—how did no one see Pahalgam coming?” she asked.

“Declared Terror Group Only After 3 Years”

She criticized the government for delaying the designation of TRF as a terrorist organization, saying, “Despite the bloodshed, TRF was not declared a terrorist group in 2020, 2021, or 2022—but only in 2023. Why did you wait for 3 years?”

According to her, the government had full knowledge of TRF’s activities but failed to act decisively. She demanded accountability: “Did the IB chief resign? Did the Home Minister resign? Did anyone take responsibility? No.”

“You Talk History, We Talk Present”

Referring to the government’s tendency to focus on historical narratives, Priyanka remarked, “You talk about Nehru, Indira, and history—we’re talking about the present.” She criticized Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for speaking about the past while failing to explain the recent intelligence failure.

“A conspiracy was being plotted in Pakistan, and our agencies had no idea? That’s a massive failure.”

She emphasized that this isn’t political point-scoring, but a serious issue of national security and governance, stating, “You can launch operations, give speeches, or invoke past leaders—but people want answers today.”
