Bihar's Leader of Opposition and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav narrowly escaped a serious accident late last night after a speeding, uncontrolled truck rammed into his convoy on NH 22 near Hajipur. The incident left several security personnel injured, who were immediately rushed to Sadar Hospital, Hajipur for medical treatment.

Incident Occurred Just 5 Feet Away from Tejashwi Yadav

According to Tejashwi Yadav, the accident occurred while he was returning from a public program in Madhepura. Around midnight, the convoy had stopped at Goraul for tea when suddenly a truck lost control and hit 2–3 vehicles ahead of his car. “We were standing just 5 feet away. If the truck had gone a little further out of control, it could have hit us directly,” he said, describing the close call.

Chaos at Hajipur Sadar Hospital, Two Referred to PMCH

Following the accident, there was chaos at Sadar Hospital in Hajipur as the injured driver and security personnel were brought in for treatment. RJD MLA Dr. Mukesh Roshan and Vaishali Civil Surgeon Dr. Shyam Nandan Prasad also reached the hospital. According to Dr. Prasad, two of the injured have been referred to PMCH (Patna Medical College Hospital) for advanced care.

Police Detain Truck Driver, Investigation Underway

Police acted swiftly and caught the truck and detained the driver, who had tried to flee the scene. An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the accident. Tejashwi Yadav, speaking to the media, said the crash was a clear case of negligence, emphasizing the need for strict action against the driver and enforcement of better road safety measures.

“Accidents happen every day, and many lives are lost due to such negligence. This incident highlights the urgent need for better road management and strict law enforcement,” said the RJD leader.
