Two Russian Women Found Murdered in Goa, Accused Confesses to Double Killing

A disturbing case involving the murder of two Russian women has surfaced in Goa, sending shockwaves through the state. Police have arrested a Russian national, Alexey Leonov, who has allegedly confessed to killing both women in similar circumstances.

The deceased have been identified as Elena Kasatnova and Elena Vaneva, both Russian citizens. According to investigators, Kasatnova’s body was recovered first, following which Leonov, her live-in partner, was taken into custody. During interrogation, he reportedly admitted not only to her murder but also to the killing of another woman, leading police to a second crime scene.

Police investigations so far indicate that both women were murdered in the same manner. Their hands were tied behind their backs with rope, and their throats were slit using a sharp weapon. Multiple injury marks were found on their bodies, suggesting a violent struggle.

A senior police officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the accused first attacked Kasatnova, with whom he was living in a live-in relationship. After restraining her by tying her hands, he allegedly stabbed her several times and then slit her throat, preventing any chance of escape or resistance.

While probing the first murder, police detained 37-year-old Leonov, who later confessed and disclosed details about the second killing. He subsequently led investigators to the body of 37-year-old Elena Vaneva.

The motive behind the murders remains unclear, and police have stated that further investigation is underway to establish the sequence of events, possible triggers, and whether any additional individuals were involved.
