Let's take a closer look at the weather forecast...
The scorching heat and heatwave in large parts of the country have made life difficult for people. From North India to Central India, people are facing the brunt of the scorching sun and hot winds. Banda in Uttar Pradesh was the hottest city in the country on Tuesday with a temperature of 47.6 degrees Celsius. The mercury remained around 45 degrees in many states including Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Punjab. The Meteorological Department has clearly said that there is very little possibility of relief for the next three days. However, after May 29, the weather may change due to the effect of western disturbance.
Why is it so hot?
According to meteorologists, the Nautapa period is currently underway. Nautapa is considered the hottest nine days of the year. During this period, the direct rays of the sun have a greater impact on the plains, causing temperatures to rise rapidly. This is why heat waves are continuously raging in many parts of North India. The Meteorological Department has stated that temperatures in North-West India will not drop significantly until May 28. People are finding it difficult to step out during the day, and the number of patients suffering from heat stroke is also increasing in hospitals.

Streets in many cities were deserted in the afternoon. The Meteorological Department has warned that the heat wave may have a greater impact on the elderly, children, and the sick. People have been advised not to go out in the afternoon and to drink more water.
When will the weather change and where will it rain?
According to the Meteorological Department, a new western disturbance will become active from May 28. Due to this, rain, strong winds and thunderstorms can be seen in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh on May 28 and 29. Wind speed can reach 50 to 60 kilometers per hour. In some areas it can even reach 70 kilometers per hour. Thunderstorms and light rain are also expected in Western Uttar Pradesh and Eastern Uttar Pradesh. The Meteorological Department believes that this may cause a drop in temperature by 6 to 8 degrees.
What will the weather be like in other parts of the country?
Northeast India is experiencing continuous heavy rainfall. Heavy to very heavy rainfall alerts have been issued for Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, and Mizoram. Cherrapunji and Agartala have recorded good rainfall. Meanwhile, rain and thundershowers are also expected in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana in South India. A yellow alert has been issued for Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The Meteorological Department has advised people to stay away from trees and open fields during this inclement weather.
What advice has been given to fishermen and the public?
Strong winds are expected in the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. The Meteorological Department has warned fishermen against venturing into the sea. Dust storms are also possible in many areas. Experts say that while there will be relief from the heat, complete relief should not be expected until the monsoon arrives. Currently, the weather is changing rapidly in different parts of the country, and the administration is on alert.
