A month before her son’s wedding, a woman from Bisanpur village in the Pali Mukimpur area of Aligarh allegedly eloped with her nephew, who is around 16 years younger than her, taking along cash and jewellery saved for the marriage. The incident has left the family in financial distress and social turmoil.
According to the complaint filed by the woman’s husband, their eldest son’s wedding was scheduled for March 6, 2026, and preparations were underway. On January 25, the woman left home saying she was going to visit her parental house but did not return. The family later discovered that she had gone away with her nephew, identified as Vikram.
The husband alleged that Vikram developed a relationship with the woman and persuaded her to leave the house. He further claimed that the nephew took her away with the intention of stealing money and valuables.
Jewellery and Cash Taken
The woman allegedly took nearly ₹1 lakh in cash along with gold and silver jewellery worth several lakhs. The items included a mangalsutra, gold chain, ring, and anklets, all of which had been accumulated over the years for the upcoming wedding. Due to the loss, the family now fears that the marriage arrangements may collapse.
Husband Appeals for Help
Unable to trace his wife or recover the valuables, the husband approached the office of Aligarh Senior Superintendent of Police Neeraj Jadon, seeking urgent intervention. Breaking down during his appeal, he reportedly said the family was facing humiliation and emotional distress, and that his son’s marriage was at risk.
Police Action Underway
Police have registered an FIR against nine individuals, including the nephew, based on the husband’s complaint. Officials confirmed that the accused nephew is approximately 16 years younger than the woman. Investigators are examining the case from both a personal relationship and conspiracy angle.
Police teams have conducted raids at multiple locations, but so far, neither the woman nor the nephew has been traced. Authorities say efforts are ongoing to locate them and recover the stolen cash and jewellery.
