Jhabua: Police have registered a case against senior BJP leader and former president of the District Cooperative Wholesale Consumer Store, Anokhilal Mehta, for sending an obscene video to a woman on WhatsApp in Jhabua. The woman said in her complaint that on August 15, Mehta, a resident of Petlawad, sent a message on WhatsApp from his mobile number. It read, 'I am sending a video, please delete it after watching it.' An obscene video was also sent along with it. The woman informed her son about this. The son immediately took a screenshot and tried to talk to Mehta on the call, but Mehta disconnected the call as soon as he recognized her voice.
The police registered a case.
The woman filed a complaint with all the evidence at the Kalidevi police station. After an investigation, the police registered an FIR against Anokhilal Mehta under sections of the Indian Penal Code and the IT Act. Considering the seriousness of the case, Jhabua Sub-Divisional Officer (SDOP) Ruparekha Yadav wrote to the station in-charge, instructing him to register an FIR.
Cyber Cell Verification:
SDOP Ruprekha Yadav said that a case has been registered based on preliminary findings. The accused deleted the video, but the complainant has a screenshot of it. The Cyber Cell will now conduct verification.
Jhabua's newly appointed Superintendent of Police, Dr. Shiv Dayal Singh, made clear his zero-tolerance policy on crimes against women
immediately after assuming office. His strict stance resulted in the case gaining momentum, and an FIR was filed against the accused leader.
