The year 2025 has brought yet another thrilling North vs South face-off at the Indian box office! Bollywood action king Sunny Deol’s latest release ‘Jaat’ may have sparked excitement among his loyal fans, but South Indian superstar Ajith Kumar’s action entertainer ‘Good Bad Ugly’ seems to be running away with the crown.
Both films created massive hype prior to their release, but the real test began once they hit the theaters. Now the three-day box office report is out, and the numbers speak louder than the expectations.
Ajith Kumar’s ‘Good Bad Ugly’ Dominates the Weekend
Ajith Kumar’s much-awaited action-comedy ‘Good Bad Ugly’ opened with a thunderous start at the box office, collecting ₹29.25 crore on Day 1. Despite a predictable dip on Day 2, where the film earned ₹15 crore, the momentum remained strong.
On Day 3, as per trade analyst estimates, the film added another ₹10.15 crore to its kitty. With this, ‘Good Bad Ugly’ has achieved a total collection of ₹54.4 crore in just three days, making it one of the fastest earners of the year so far.
‘Jaat’ Struggles to Keep Pace
On the other side, Sunny Deol’s ‘Jaat’ had a promising start but couldn’t quite maintain the same pace against its Southern competitor. The film opened with ₹9.50 crore on Day 1, followed by ₹7 crore on Day 2.
However, Day 3 brought a sharper decline, as ‘Jaat’ collected ₹4.99 crore, pushing its three-day total to ₹21.49 crore. While the film continues to hold on in select mass circuits, the numbers clearly show that Ajith’s action-packed saga is ruling the box office.
Story, Star Power & Strong Promotions
‘Good Bad Ugly’ benefits from a mix of action, comedy, and Ajith’s die-hard fanbase. Ajith plays the fierce gangster Red Dragon, supported by an ensemble cast including Prabhu, Prasanna, Arjun Das, Rahul Dev, and Yogi Babu. Backed by production giants Mythri Movie Makers and T-Series, the film is visually appealing and has been well-received by the action-loving audience.
Meanwhile, ‘Jaat’ banks on Sunny Deol’s old-school action charisma. Although the film drew initial crowds due to the star’s loyal following, the limited novelty factor seems to be affecting its long-term performance.
Verdict: South Wins the Battle — For Now
If box office trends are any indication, ‘Good Bad Ugly’ has clearly outperformed ‘Jaat’ in the opening weekend. However, the upcoming weekdays and word-of-mouth will decide whether Sunny Deol’s film can stage a late comeback or not.
