5 superfoods to combat iron deficiency
For women suffering from iron deficiency, these foods suggested by Shweta Shah can be very helpful.
1- Haleem or Aliv seeds
Garden cress seeds are a powerful remedy for iron deficiency. They are also known as Halim and Aliv seeds. They are very high in iron. Eating just 2 teaspoons of them can provide 12 to 13 mg of iron. To consume them, soak 2 teaspoons in water overnight and drink it the next day with lemon juice.
2- Black gram
Black gram, also known as brown gram, is widely used in panipuri. Boiling it thoroughly and eating just 15-20 grains provides 2 to 3 milligrams of iron. It is also considered a good source of protein and fiber.
3- Pumpkin seeds and black raisins
Two teaspoons of pumpkin seeds and 5-6 black raisins are also considered very good sources of iron. Eating pumpkin seeds provides about 3 mg of iron, and black raisins also provide about 3 mg of iron. You can also roast them and eat them.
4- Curry leaves
5- Black sesame seeds
Eating black sesame seeds is also considered a good source of iron. Just one teaspoon of black sesame seeds provides 3 milligrams of iron. You can also roast them and eat them.
