On the birth anniversary of Antyodaya pioneer Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya, the Haryana government dedicated the occasion to the development and empowerment of women, announcing several ambitious schemes and projects. During a state-level function at Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Panchkula, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini launched the Deendayal Lado Laxmi Yojana, aimed at strengthening the economic and social status of women in the state. Alongside the scheme, the Chief Minister also unveiled a dedicated mobile app to facilitate smooth application and implementation, as well as a toll-free number (18001802231) and a helpline (01724880500) to address any issues. Five women were registered live at the event, and within a short time, the app had been downloaded by around 50,000 women, with approximately 8,000 applications submitted.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated and laid the foundation for development projects worth ₹326.25 crore, including 31 inaugurations totaling ₹78.04 crore, the foundation stone for 97 projects worth ₹78.12 crore to strengthen the health sector, renovation of 10 health institutions at a cost of ₹80.72 crore, and one project each from the Public Works Department and Urban Local Bodies, amounting to ₹89.37 crore.
Highlighting the significance of the scheme, CM Saini stated that Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya believed that a nation could only prosper when its women are safe, educated, and respected. The Deendayal Lado Laxmi Yojana will benefit married and unmarried women aged 23 to 60 whose families have an annual income of up to ₹1 lakh, providing them with a monthly financial assistance of ₹2,100. Notably, all eligible women in a family can benefit, regardless of their number. The annual budget for 2025-26 has been approved at ₹5,000 crore, and in the first phase, approximately 20 lakh women in Haryana are expected to benefit.
CM Saini emphasized that the entire process, from application to verification and grievance redressal, will be transparent and simple through the mobile app, eliminating the need for visits to Common Service Centers. Eligible women can apply from home, and those who become eligible after today can apply immediately. The Chief Minister encouraged women under 23 to apply on or after their 23rd birthday. He also highlighted that the launch of this scheme fulfills the 42nd of 217 manifesto pledges, with 90 expected to be fulfilled by the end of the year, offering economic and social security to women struggling due to poverty.
In line with Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s ideals, CM Saini noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is prioritizing women’s empowerment through schemes such as "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao," "Bima Sakhi," "Drone Didi," and "Lakhpati Didi," benefiting millions of women. In Haryana, the goal is to make five lakh women "Lakhpati Didi," with 2.13 lakh already achieving this status. Additionally, under the Drone Didi scheme, 100 women have received drones and training, with 100 more to be trained this year. The state is also ensuring 50 percent representation for women in Panchayats, discounted gas cylinders, and one-third control of ration depots for women.
To further the cause of women’s welfare, the "Lado Sakhi" scheme has been launched to support the health of pregnant women and incentivize the birth of daughters. A dedicated "Women's Helpline" (1091) and 33 women’s police stations have been established across Haryana to ensure safety and address crimes against women. Through these comprehensive initiatives, the Haryana government aims to empower women economically, socially, and politically, reinforcing their active participation in the mainstream of society.
