India’s Best-Selling Tata Nexon to Get a Stylish Makeover: SUV Set for Major Changes Inside and Out

The Tata Nexon, India’s top-selling car in November, is gearing up for a major update. Reports suggest that Tata Motors has an exciting lineup planned for 2026, including the Sierra EV, Harrier and Safari petrol SUVs, the Punch facelift, and the all-new Nexon.

The next-generation Nexon, codenamed Project Garuda, is expected to launch in late 2026 or early 2027. While official specifications are yet to be released, early information points to significant upgrades in design, platform, and features.

New Platform and Design Language

The most notable change in the 2026 Nexon will be its platform. The SUV will be built on an all-new platform, likely a major evolution of the current X1 architecture. This modern platform will support different body styles and integrate advanced technology.

Both the exterior and interior are expected to see substantial upgrades. The Nexon will adopt Tata’s new design language, potentially borrowing cues from the latest models in the brand’s lineup. This promises a fresh, contemporary look while retaining the SUV’s signature style.

Engine Options: What to Expect

The next-generation Nexon is likely to retain the 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine, delivering 120 PS of power and 170 Nm of torque. However, with the upcoming BS7 emission norms, it’s uncertain whether the 1.5-liter diesel engine will continue in the lineup. As before, a CNG variant is expected to be available.

Price Expectations

With major design changes, upgraded features, and mechanical enhancements, the 2026 Tata Nexon is likely to be priced higher. Currently, the Nexon’s ex-showroom prices range from ₹7.32 lakh to ₹14.15 lakh. The new model is expected to start around ₹8 lakh, while the top-end variant could reach up to ₹17 lakh.

As India’s favorite compact SUV, the Nexon’s next generation is generating plenty of anticipation among buyers, promising a perfect blend of style, performance, and modern technology.
