IPL 2026 Auction: Amidst the IPL 2026 auction, there were some players who once ruled the IPL but did not find any buyers before IPL 2026.
IPL 2026 Auction: All 10 franchises have finalized their teams for the 19th season of the Indian Premier League. Cameron Green joined the Kolkata Knight Riders for ₹25.20 crore, making him the most expensive foreign player in history. Chennai Super Kings also spent ₹14.20 crore on Prashanth Veer and Kartik Sharma. Prithvi Shaw and Sarfaraz Khan also finally found buyers. Meanwhile, there were some players who once dominated the IPL but failed to find any buyers before IPL 2026.
Jack Fraser McGurk (2 crore)
Australian batsman Jack Fraser McGurk's story is one of rags to riches. Before IPL 2025, Delhi Capitals retained him for ₹9 crore (90 million rupees). However, he scored just 38 runs in six matches, which led to him going unsold in the IPL 2026 auction. McGurk had a base price of ₹2 crore (20 million rupees).
Devon Conway (2 crores)
Devon Conway played three seasons for the Chennai Super Kings. IPL 2023 was his best year, scoring 672 runs in 16 matches. However, in IPL 2025, he scored only 156 runs in six matches. Consequently, Chennai released him. No one showed interest in signing the 34-year-old batsman.
Deepak Hooda (75 lakh)
Deepak Hooda has been one of the most prominent players in the IPL. Last year, he was signed by the Chennai Super Kings, and that season proved to be the worst of his career. In IPL 2025, Deepak managed just 31 runs in seven matches at an average of 6. Despite a base price of ₹75 lakh, he went unsold.
Jonny Bairstow (₹1 crore)
Jonny Bairstow, the most prolific batsman in the Indian Premier League in 2019-20, also went unsold in IPL 2026. He was called up by Mumbai Indians for the first half of last year as a replacement for Ryan Rickelton. He scored 47 runs in two matches, and MI were keen to acquire him, but their purse of just ₹2.44 crore (24.4 million rupees) prevented them from making the move.
Chetan Sakaria (75 lakh)
Chetan Sakaria caught everyone's attention after making his IPL 2021 debut. This earned the left-arm bowler a chance to play for Team India in 2021. He has taken just as many wickets in 20 IPL matches, and despite a base price of ₹7.5 million, he went unsold.
