Heavy monsoon rainfall continues to affect several parts of India, disrupting normal life and triggering floods, landslides, and rescue operations in multiple states. The latest weather conditions have impacted regions including Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Delhi-NCR, Gujarat, and Rajasthan, prompting authorities to remain on high alert.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that the active monsoon system is likely to bring more rain over the coming days, with several districts expected to receive heavy to very heavy showers.
Heavy Rain Triggers Floods and Rescue Operations
Relentless rainfall has led to multiple weather-related incidents across the country.
In Maharashtra's Pimpri-Chinchwad area, a massive mound of waste reportedly collapsed onto a multi-storey building, trapping several people beneath the debris. Rescue teams have been working continuously to evacuate those affected.
In Himachal Pradesh, a cloudburst in Kullu district triggered flash floods in the Gadsa Valley, causing damage to infrastructure and disrupting daily life.
Meanwhile, a major landslide was reported at a tunnel construction site in Kerala's Wayanad district, affecting ongoing work and prompting emergency response measures.
Several parts of Delhi-NCR also witnessed persistent rainfall, leading to waterlogging and slow-moving traffic, while flood-like conditions were reported in parts of Surat, Gujarat.
Rajasthan Receives Fresh Spell of Monsoon Rain
Monsoon showers have continued across several districts of Rajasthan, although rainfall has been uneven across the state.
During the past 24 hours, eastern and southern parts of Rajasthan recorded moderate to heavy rainfall, while residents in Jaipur continued to wait for widespread showers despite cloudy weather throughout the day.
Districts including Bharatpur, Udaipur, Alwar, Karauli, Chittorgarh, and Bharatpur witnessed significant rainfall, with some areas receiving up to three inches of rain.
Heavy waterlogging was reported in several locations, affecting traffic and normal public movement. Evening showers also brought relief from high temperatures in parts of Udaipur and Sirohi.
IMD Issues Orange Alert for Several Districts
According to the India Meteorological Department, Rajasthan is expected to witness continued rainfall until July 10.
The weather department has issued an Orange Alert for Bharatpur, Dholpur, Baran, and Jhalawar, indicating the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in these districts.
A Yellow Alert has also been issued for most parts of the state, advising residents to remain cautious as thunderstorms and moderate to heavy rainfall may continue.
Only Jaisalmer, Barmer, Jodhpur, and Jalore in western Rajasthan have been kept outside the current Yellow Alert zone.
Residents Advised to Stay Alert
Authorities have urged people living in low-lying and flood-prone areas to remain cautious during periods of intense rainfall. Commuters have been advised to avoid waterlogged roads wherever possible and follow official weather updates before planning travel.
Heavy rainfall can lead to localized flooding, reduced visibility, traffic disruptions, and damage to weak structures. Residents are also encouraged to stay away from overflowing rivers, drains, and landslide-prone areas during severe weather.
With the monsoon expected to remain active over the next few days, emergency agencies continue to monitor the situation closely while preparedness measures remain in place across several states.
