Passenger Pays for Samosa with His Watch After Payment Failure at Jabalpur Station

A seemingly simple snack turned into a bizarre incident at Jabalpur railway station, Madhya Pradesh, when a passenger ended up paying for a samosa with his wristwatch. The unusual event escalated after the passenger’s online payment failed, and the samosa vendor allegedly grabbed him by the collar. A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media. Following the uproar, the vendor was taken into custody and a case was registered against him.

Why the Payment Failed

The incident occurred on October 17. A passenger, who had gotten off a stationary train to buy samosas, attempted to pay the vendor online by scanning a QR code. However, due to network issues, the payment did not go through. Despite repeated attempts, the transaction failed, and meanwhile, the passenger’s train departed.

The passenger assured the vendor that he would pay once the network issue was resolved. However, the vendor reportedly did not accept this explanation, allegedly abused the passenger, and physically restrained him by holding his collar.

Fearing that he would miss his train, the passenger removed his wristwatch and handed it over to the vendor as immediate payment. He was then able to board his train. Another passenger recorded the incident on their mobile phone, and the video quickly went viral online.

Railways’ Response

The Railways have not officially commented on the incident, but the video and widespread social media attention have drawn significant public scrutiny toward the vendor’s behavior.
