Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, currently on a two-day official visit to Morocco, addressed the Indian diaspora in Casablanca, where he touched upon issues ranging from the US-imposed 50% tariff to the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor.

“Big Nations Don’t React Immediately”

Speaking on the 50% tariff imposed by the United States, Singh said India did not respond impulsively.

“Did we react? Those who are broad-minded and big-hearted do not react to anything immediately,” he told members of the Indian community in Rabat.

On Pahalgam Attack and Operation Sindoor

Referring to the recent Pahalgam attack, Singh said terrorists targeted people after asking about their religion.

“I immediately called a meeting and asked our forces to be ready. All chiefs confirmed they were prepared for the operation,” he said.

The minister also spoke about Operation Sindoor, stating that it was temporarily postponed after Pakistan requested a ceasefire. However, he made it clear that if necessary, Operation Sindoor Part 2 and Part 3 would follow.

“Friends can be changed, but neighbors cannot. It is our duty to bring our neighbors back on the right path,” Singh asserted.

Why the Visit Matters

Singh’s Morocco tour is seen as a step to strengthen defense and strategic ties with Africa. During the visit:

• He will inaugurate the Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) plant in Berreshid, Casablanca, built in partnership with Morocco’s Royal Armed Forces.

• He will hold bilateral talks with Abdellatif Loudiay, Morocco’s Minister of National Defense, to deepen defense and industrial cooperation.

• Singh will also meet Riad Mezzour, Morocco’s Minister of Industry and Trade, to expand economic ties.

• Both countries are expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on defense cooperation.
