Political tensions are running high ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, with election strategist and Jan Suraaj Party chief Prashant Kishor leveling serious accusations against Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary. Kishor claims Chaudhary was an accused in the infamous 1995 Munger murder case and misrepresented his age as a minor to the Supreme Court to evade prosecution. He has demanded Chaudhary’s immediate removal from office and arrest, citing discrepancies in age records from Chaudhary’s 2020 election affidavit that would have made him 26 years old at the time of the crime—not a juvenile as claimed.

In response, Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary recounted his version of events, asserting that he, along with 22 members of his family, was imprisoned in 1995 due to what he called “political vendetta” by Lalu Prasad Yadav’s government. He insisted that the Human Rights Commission intervened at the time, penalizing the then Bihar government for the case’s handling, and said Chief Minister Nitish Kumar himself protested in support of the family by walking seven kilometers. Chaudhary maintains that all legal procedures were followed and that accountability will ultimately be determined by the public, not political rivals.

As the allegations and counter-claims intensify, Prashant Kishor has publicly detailed his income sources and tax records in response to opposition queries, revealing donations and significant income over recent years. The escalating war of words highlights the charged atmosphere as Bihar’s election season heats up, with both camps standing firm and promising to expose each other’s misdeeds.
