The report accompanying the verdict pointed out that several world-famous zoos and national parks operate successfully near major cities and industrial zones. Examples include the Bronx Zoo in New York, Tierpark Berlin in Germany, and London Zoo in the UK, as well as Hluhluwemfolozi Park in South Africa, Doñana National Park in Spain, and Everglades National Park in the US.

Findings of the SIT Report

The Supreme Court-appointed Special Investigation Team (SIT) noted that Jamnagar’s Vantara facilities are located near residential townships, villages, and populated areas, yet no health or environmental issues have been reported. It rejected claims that proximity to industrial areas makes the sanctuary unsafe.
