Yemen's Houthi rebels said at least 20 people were killed and 30 wounded in US air strikes on the oil port Ras Issa.
Yemen's Houthi rebels said US airstrikes on the oil port of Ras Issa killed at least 20 people and wounded 30. The Central Command, which coordinates US forces, said it carried out the attacks to cut off supplies of fuel and revenue to the Iran-backed terrorist group.
The US military said it carried out the attacks to cut off the Houthis' fuel supply and source of funds. Houthi health ministry spokesman Anees al-Sabah said in a social media post that 13 workers and employees were killed and 30 others were injured in the US attack on the Ras Issa port.
Ras Isa is a vital oil pipeline and port on the country's west coast, where most imports and humanitarian aid enter Yemen. Central Command argued that Iran-backed Houthi rebels, whom the US considers a terrorist group, were using the site to facilitate fuel supplies and for corruption.
The US military launched an expanded bombing campaign against Houthi rebels, threatening to continue attacks unless they stop targeting commercial ships passing through the Red Sea, a vital route for global trade.
