WhatsApp Rolls Out 3 Powerful Group Chat Features: Polls Get Smarter, @All Mentions Arrive, and Creating New Groups Becomes Easier

WhatsApp is introducing a fresh set of features designed to make group conversations more organized, interactive, and convenient. The latest update focuses on improving how users manage polls, notify group members, and create new discussion groups. These features are being rolled out gradually and are expected to reach all users over the coming weeks.

Smarter Polls With Deadlines and Anonymous Voting

WhatsApp has upgraded its poll feature with several useful additions. Users can now set a deadline while creating a poll, allowing voting to close automatically once the specified time expires. This makes polls more useful for time-sensitive decisions such as planning meetings, events, or group activities.

Another major addition is the option to hide the identities of voters. Group members can now cast their votes without revealing their names, making it easier to collect honest opinions in situations where privacy matters.

The company has also introduced a poll editing feature. If you notice a typo or want to clarify a question, you'll be able to edit the poll within 15 minutes of posting it, eliminating the need to create a new one.

@All Mention Makes Important Announcements Impossible to Miss

WhatsApp is also bringing an @all mention feature to group chats. Instead of tagging members individually, users can notify everyone in the group with a single mention, making it easier to share urgent updates or important announcements.

The feature is particularly useful for office teams, school groups, family chats, event planning, and community groups where everyone needs to receive the same information quickly.

For groups with more than 32 members, only administrators will be able to use the @all mention to prevent unnecessary notifications. Even if a group is muted, members may still receive notifications for @all mentions, although this can be managed through the app's notification settings.

Create a New Group From an Existing One

WhatsApp has also simplified the process of creating new groups. Instead of adding members one by one, users can now create a new group directly from an existing group, making it much faster to start a separate conversation.

This feature is ideal for creating dedicated groups for specific events, project discussions, family functions, travel plans, surprise parties, or any topic that requires its own space without disrupting the original group chat.

When Will These Features Be Available?

According to WhatsApp, all three features are being rolled out in phases. If you don't see them immediately, make sure your WhatsApp app is updated to the latest version. The company says the features will become available to all eligible users over the next few weeks.

With smarter polls, instant group-wide mentions, and easier group creation, WhatsApp aims to make managing large group chats simpler, more efficient, and more engaging than ever before.
