The Eighth Pay Commission is currently holding meetings across the country to consider the demands of employees and pensioners. Meetings will be held in Chennai on September 7th and 8th, and in Chandigarh from September 16th to 18th. The application process for the meetings scheduled in Jaipur on August 31st and September 1st has been completed.

No decision yet on fitment factor
An important discussion is underway within the Commission regarding the fitment factor. The Seventh Pay Commission increased the fitment factor by 2.57 percent. Employee unions are demanding a 3.68 to 3.83 percent fitment. However, the Eighth Pay Commission has not yet announced the final fitment factor or basic salary.
