Central government employees are currently discussing the 8th Pay Commission. Employees and pensioners from various sectors have made several demands to the commission. They are eagerly awaiting its recommendations. Meanwhile, employees will receive some good news starting July 2026. Due to rising inflation, discussions have begun regarding an increase in dearness allowance (DA).
According to the inflation forecast announced by the Labor Bureau, it is estimated that dearness allowance (DA) will increase by approximately 3% from July 2026. Currently, central government employees receive 60% DA, and this is expected to reach 63%. Once implemented, this increase will directly increase employees' monthly salaries. However, the final decision on this matter will only be clear after an official announcement by the central government.
Although many employees are expecting a basic salary increase starting in July, no official information has been received yet. The only increase expected in July is in dearness allowance. The recommendations of the Eighth Pay Commission have not yet been finalized, as suggestions and demands are still coming from employees of various commissions.
Additionally, discussions are underway regarding increasing the fitment factor in the Eighth Pay Commission. Some demands suggest a fitment factor between 2.0 and 2.86. Employee organizations are demanding a higher fitment factor. If the government approves a higher fitment factor, a significant increase in basic salaries is possible. However, the biggest relief for employees is a potential increase in DA. This will reduce the burden on employees due to inflation.
