Facebook Account Hacked? Don't Panic, Do These 7 Things Immediately

Having your Facebook account hacked can be a major problem these days. If posts or messages are being sent from your account without your knowledge, your password has changed, or you've logged in from an unknown device, it's important to take immediate action.

1. Change your password immediately

If you can still log in to your Facebook account, first change your password. Use a strong new password and one you haven't used on any other account.

2. Log out from unknown devices

Go to Facebook's Accounts Center > Password and Security Settings to check your login activity. Here, you can see which devices are logged into your account. Log out of any unknown devices immediately.

3. Check Email and Mobile Number

Check the email address and mobile number associated with your Facebook account. If you see an unknown email address or number, try deleting it.

4. Turn on Two-Factor Authentication

After securing your account, be sure to enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA). This will require additional verification when logging in on a new device and increase account security.

5. If you are unable to login, perform recovery.

If the hacker changed your password and you can't log in, use Facebook's Account Recovery option. Follow the instructions there to verify your identity and try to recover your account.

6. Tell friends immediately

If a suspicious message or link is sent to friends from your account, alert them immediately. Ask them not to click on such links or share any information.

7. Secure your email account as well

If you suspect your Facebook-linked email account has been hacked, change its password and enable two-factor authentication.
