“It may sound strange, but shooting at night has its advantages. The biggest challenge has always been managing Raha’s schedule and my own time. Since most of the film was shot at night in Mumbai, it allowed me to spend more time with Raha during the day.”
Alia also shared how she and Ranbir divided responsibilities as parents. There were days when only one of them was shooting, and other times when their schedules clashed. Yet, they ensured Raha never felt neglected.
Prioritizing Family Over Work
Alia candidly admitted that she has even rejected multiple projects to give priority to her daughter. According to her, finding balance is key:
“It means not taking on too much responsibility and working with people who understand your priorities. Every month, when I plan my schedule, I make sure everything is clear and organized. I love planning; I’m part of many groups where we discuss and manage things together.”
For Alia, being a working professional and a mother is about embracing both roles equally — nurturing her daughter while also pursuing her passion for acting.
The Desire to Do Family-Friendly Films
Interestingly, Alia admitted that she has not yet done a film that her daughter can watch. This, she says, is a big motivation behind her interest in comedy and lighter films.
“I haven’t made a film that Raha can sit and enjoy. That thought stays with me. I think that’s why I’m more attracted to comedies now, because I haven’t explored that space much. As an actor, you always look for something that inspires you or pulls you in, and right now, family-friendly cinema feels close to my heart.”

With Love and War nearing its final schedule — which will be shot abroad for the film’s climax — fans are eagerly waiting to see Alia and Ranbir share the screen again after Brahmastra.
