Controversy in Texas Over Hanuman Statue: US Republican Leader Sparks Outrage

Alexander Duncan, a Republican leader from Texas and Senate candidate for 2026, has come under fire for his comments on a 90-foot statue of Lord Hanuman in Sugar Land, Texas.

Duncan objected to the statue, calling America a Christian nation, and questioned the presence of a “false Hindu god” in Texas.

In a post on X, he cited the Bible, stating, “You have no other God but me.”

The statue is located at the Sri Ashtalakshmi Temple and is one of the tallest Hindu monuments in the US. It was conceived by Sri Chinnajiyar Swamiji and depicts Hanuman with both hands raised at chest level.

The Hindu American Foundation (HAF) condemned Duncan’s remarks as anti-Hindu and inflammatory, reporting the matter to the Republican Party in Texas.
