He has asked officials to ensure that the funds under social security pension schemes are transferred to beneficiaries' bank accounts by the 10th of every month. Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary held a high-level review meeting of the Social Welfare Department in Patna's Sankalp Auditorium. Chief Minister Samrat said that delays in pension payments at any level will not be tolerated. He directed officials to ensure strict adherence to the set deadlines.

Review of the work of social welfare departments

A detailed review of the work of the Social Welfare Department was conducted at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary . During the meeting, the department's Additional Chief Secretary, H.R. Srinivas, gave a presentation on the progress of the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), the Directorate of Social Security, and the Women and Child Development Corporation. The meeting also discussed the state of children's nutrition and physical development. Samrat stated that addressing the problem of stunting (low height for age) and wasting (low weight for age) among children in the state is among the government's priorities.

He directed that proper arrangements be made to monitor the services provided at Anganwadi centers and the distribution of nutritional materials through technical means. The Chief Minister also stressed the need for regular attendance by the workers and assistants and ensuring 100% attendance of the targeted children.

Parenting plan also reviewed

According to the statement, the government has also decided to review the financial assistance amount for other welfare schemes, including the 'Parvarish Yojana' for children from weaker sections, so that more eligible beneficiaries can avail the benefits of the schemes. The Chief Minister directed to start the recruitment process for vacant posts in the department soon. He also asked to explore the possibilities of private sector cooperation under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to improve the infrastructure and functioning of Anganwadi centres. Samrat asked the officials to ensure effective implementation of schemes related to the welfare of the weaker and deprived sections of the society, so that the needy people can get government assistance in time.

How many types of pension are there in Bihar?

There are six pension schemes in operation in Bihar. The Chief Minister's Old Age Pension Scheme, the Indira Gandhi Old Age Pension Scheme, the Indira Gandhi Widow Pension Scheme, the Lakshmi Bai Social Security Pension Scheme, the Bihar Disabled Scheme, and the Indira Gandhi Disabled Pension Scheme provide monthly payments to those in need. Last year, this pension was increased to ₹1,100.
