LPG Cylinder Price Hike: LPG cylinder prices have risen this far; learn about these 3 major decisions of the Modi government

Inflation is rising these days. This is putting a lot of pressure on the common man's pocket. Important news has come out for LPG gas consumers. Due to increasing tensions at the global level and fluctuations in crude oil prices, the prices of gas cylinders are now being affected. The Modi government has taken three important decisions regarding LPG cylinders in June. Due to these decisions, the financial burden is expected to increase not only on domestic consumers but also on the beneficiaries of the Ujjwala scheme.

The biggest change has been made regarding the subsidy provided under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. Previously, beneficiaries of this scheme were provided with nine LPG cylinders per year. Now, this limit has been reduced to just four cylinders. This scheme was launched in 2016.

At that time, the scheme initially provided 12 cylinders. Later, this number was reduced to nine, and now it has been reduced to four. The government deposits a subsidy of ₹300 per cylinder directly into the beneficiaries' bank accounts. However, the reduced number of cylinders is likely to increase expenses for many families.

Another important decision is the increase in the price of domestic LPG cylinders. The government has increased the price of a 14.2 kg domestic gas cylinder by ₹29. This has increased the price of these cylinders in Delhi from ₹913 to ₹942. Notably, this is the second price increase in the last three months. Previously, in March, cylinder prices were increased by ₹60.

The third major decision is that the price of a 19 kg commercial cylinder used for hotels, restaurants, and eateries has been increased by ₹42, to ₹3,113.50 in Delhi. Previously, this cylinder was available for ₹3,071.50. Additionally, the price of a smaller 5 kg gas cylinder has also increased by ₹11, to ₹8,21.50.

Due to tensions in West Asia, crude oil and LPG prices are rising in the international market. According to the government, oil marketing companies are losing approximately ₹700 per cylinder of LPG. Therefore, it is believed that these decisions will directly impact the pockets of ordinary consumers.
