New rules for LPG and PNG consumers come into effect from June 1, 2026. The government will now strictly enforce the "one household, one connection" policy, under which households with PNG connections may be required to surrender LPG cylinders. Additionally, the lock-in period for cylinder refills has been extended, and a new verification process has been made mandatory at the time of delivery.
What are the new rules?
A strict one-house, one-connection rule has been implemented. Now, only one active gas connection will be allowed at a single address. If you have PNG, you cannot have an LPG connection. If you have both connections, the LPG connection can be blocked or canceled.
The government's primary objective is to ensure proper use of the subsidy. PNG connections are rapidly increasing in the country, but many people still enjoy both services.
Transfer Voucher Facility - Those who surrender their LPG to PNG will receive a transfer voucher. If they move to an area without PNG in the future, they can easily use this voucher to restart their LPG connection.
