Nepal's former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has blamed India after being removed from power. He claimed that he was removed from the post due to his stand on Lipulekh dispute and Ayodhya. If he had not challenged India, he would have remained in power.
Nepal's ousted Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is venting his anger on India after being ousted from power. Oli has launched a scathing attack on India and claimed that he had to be ousted from power because he had dared to challenge India on sensitive issues.
It has also been told in Oli's statement that he is currently in Shivpuri barrack of Nepal Army. He has made anti-India statements in a letter sent to the general secretary of his party. Oli said that if he had not raised questions on Lipulekh, on which Nepal claims its right, he would have remained in the post.
Had to pay the price for stance on Ayodhya and Lipulekh
He also alleged that he had to pay a political price for his stand on Ayodhya and Lord Ram. He said, "I lost power because I opposed the birth of Ram in Ayodhya."
In July 2020, the then Prime Minister of Nepal KP Sharma Oli had claimed that Lord Rama was not an Indian but a Nepali. Oli said, "Lord Rama's kingdom Ayodhya is located west of Birgunj in Nepal and India has built a disputed Ayodhya."
The Lipulekh Pass dispute is one of the most contentious border disputes between India and Nepal. It revolves around the Kalapani region, where the two countries disagree about the origin of the Kali River, which was defined as the border under the 1816 Treaty of Sugauli.
Nepal says the river originates from Limpiyadhura, northwest of Lipulekh, making Kalapani and Lipulekh its territory. However, India says the river originates near Kalapani village, making the area a part of Uttarakhand.
Oli removed from Nepal
Nepal's Gen-Z has overthrown the Oli government by revolting against social media ban and corruption. This comment came a day after Oli resigned from the post of Prime Minister. Nepal is currently under President's rule and work is underway on forming an interim government.
