Petrol has become expensive in some places, while oil has also become cheaper in many cities. However, at present there has not been much change in the big cities. Prices have remained stable in some big cities including Delhi and Mumbai. However, recent statements by the government and RBI have indicated that if the West Asia crisis continues for a long time, petrol and diesel may become expensive in the coming days.  

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also recently urged people to conserve fuel, reduce unnecessary spending, and avoid foreign travel. Following this, market speculation intensified that the government may adjust oil prices to control inflation and the rising import bill. Brent crude nears $106, Iran war and Hormuz crisis raise concerns

Brent crude oil prices remain around $106 per barrel in the international market. Investors are closely watching the Trump-Xi Jinping meeting between the US and China, while the Iran war and the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz are impacting oil supplies. India relies heavily on imports to meet its energy needs, so global prices can have a direct impact on the domestic market.

RBI Governor hints at petrol and diesel prices becoming costlier

RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra has said that if the West Asia crisis continues for a long time, the government may be forced to raise petrol and diesel prices. He said that while the government hasn't yet fully passed on the increased costs to the public, doing so in the long run may be difficult.

He also said that the blockage in the Strait of Hormuz has affected oil and gas supplies, and its impact is beginning to be felt in India. The rupee's weakness and decline against the dollar are also raising concerns.

There is no shortage of petrol, diesel and LPG in the country – Petroleum Ministry

The Petroleum Ministry has clarified that the country currently has sufficient stocks of petrol, diesel, and LPG. According to the government, refineries are operating at full capacity. There is no fuel shortage or shortage anywhere. LPG supply remains normal. 12.6 million LPG cylinders were delivered in the last three days. The ministry has appealed to the public to conserve petrol and diesel, use metro and public transport, adopt carpooling, and increase the use of electric vehicles.

Petrol-diesel rates today, what are the latest prices from Delhi to Mumbai?

  • Today in Delhi, petrol is available at ₹94.77 per liter and diesel at ₹87.67 per liter, there has been no change in the prices of both.
  • In Mumbai today, petrol is being sold at ₹103.54 per liter and diesel at ₹90.03 per liter, prices are stable here too.
  • In Chandigarh, petrol remains at ₹94.30 per litre and diesel at ₹82.45 per litre, no change.
  • Diesel remained stable at ₹92.39 per litre in Chennai, while petrol prices registered a slight decline.
  • In Bengaluru too, petrol became costlier by 4 paise to ₹102.96 per liter, while diesel remained stable at ₹90.99 per liter.
  • Petrol in Hyderabad is ₹107.50 per liter and there is no change in it.
  • In Kolkata, petrol has increased by 4 paise to ₹105.45 per liter, diesel remains stable at ₹92.02 per liter.

Petrol and diesel became cheaper in these cities today

  • Petrol in Chennai has become cheaper by 4 paise and has become ₹100.80 per liter.
  • In Gurugram, petrol has decreased by 35 paise to ₹95.30 per liter and diesel has decreased by 33 paise to ₹87.77 per liter.
  • In Noida, petrol is available at ₹94.74 per liter, cheaper by 14 paise, and diesel is available at ₹87.81 per liter, cheaper by 17 paise.
  • In Bhubaneswar, petrol has come down by 38 paise to ₹100.97 per litre and diesel has come down by 37 paise to ₹92.55 per litre.
