Petrol and diesel prices are fluctuating due to the ongoing conflict in Iran and rising tensions around the Strait of Hormuz. On Monday, petrol prices were increased by Rs 2.61 per litre and diesel by Rs 2.71 per litre. This is the fourth increase in less than two weeks, exacerbating the impact of rising crude oil prices worldwide due to the Iran conflict. With the latest hike, the total increase since May 15 has reached around Rs 7.5 per litre.

Following the latest hike, petrol prices in Delhi crossed the ₹100 mark, rising by ₹2.61 to ₹102.12 per litre, while diesel prices rose by ₹2.71 to ₹95.20 per litre. Similar hikes were also seen in major metropolitan cities including Kolkata, Mumbai, and Chennai, burdening consumers and transport operators. In Kolkata, petrol prices rose by ₹2.87 to ₹113.51 per litre, while diesel rose by ₹2.80 to ₹99.82 per litre. In Mumbai, petrol became costlier by ₹2.72 to ₹111.21 per litre, while diesel rose by ₹2.81 to ₹97.83 per litre. In Chennai, petrol prices rose by ₹2.46 to ₹107.77 per litre, and diesel by ₹2.57 to ₹99.55 per litre.

In New Delhi, the price of petrol on May 27 was Rs 102.12 per litre, while in Kolkata the price of petrol is Rs 113.47 per litre. The price of petrol in Mumbai is Rs 108.20 per litre. The price of petrol in Chennai was recorded at Rs 108.20 per litre. Among NCR cities, the price of petrol in Gurgaon is Rs 102.77. The price of petrol in Noida is Rs 101.92. Meanwhile, the price of petrol in Bangalore is Rs 110.89.
