Priyanka Chopra Once Turned Down Salman Khan’s ₹600-Crore Blockbuster Film

Priyanka Chopra is one of the few Indian actresses who has successfully built a career across Bollywood and Hollywood. She began her acting journey in 2002 with the Tamil film Thamizhan and made her Bollywood debut a year later with The Hero: Love Story of a Spy. From there, Priyanka went on to work with some of the biggest stars in the industry, including Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Akshay Kumar.

Over the years, Priyanka has also rejected several high-profile film offers—and one of the most surprising among them was Salman Khan’s 2016 blockbuster Sultan. Reports suggest that Priyanka was the original choice for the female lead opposite Salman. However, she chose to turn down the role. It is widely believed that she even suggested her cousin Parineeti Chopra for the part, though the makers ultimately cast Anushka Sharma instead.

The decision proved interesting in hindsight, as Sultan, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, went on to become a massive box-office success. Made on a budget of around ₹80 crore, the film reportedly earned over ₹600 crore worldwide, firmly establishing itself as one of Salman Khan’s biggest hits.

Meanwhile, Priyanka Chopra has continued to expand her horizons. After making a strong mark in Hollywood, she has also been linked to a major upcoming Indian project directed by S. S. Rajamouli, reportedly starring Mahesh Babu. Though details about the film are still under wraps, it is said to be mounted on a grand scale and remains one of the most anticipated projects on Priyanka’s slate.

In hindsight, while turning down Sultan meant walking away from a ₹600-crore blockbuster, Priyanka Chopra’s career choices reflect her focus on global opportunities and diverse roles—decisions that have helped her become an international name rather than just a Bollywood star.
