Sankashti Chaturthi 2025: Date, Significance, and Aarti to Remove Obstacles

Sankashti Chaturthi in 2025 falls on Saturday, November 8. It is observed on the third day of Krishna Paksha of the Margashirsha month, also called Ganadhipa Sankashti Chaturthi. When this Chaturthi falls on a Saturday or Tuesday, it is known as Angarki Sankashti Chaturthi. This day is dedicated to Lord Ganesha, the remover of all obstacles and the harbinger of prosperity and happiness.

Devotees observe a fast from sunrise until moonrise, breaking it only after sighting the moon and performing Ganpati puja. Worshipping Lord Ganesha and performing his aarti on this day is highly auspicious and believed to relieve devotees from all troubles while ushering in good fortune.

The Ganpati aarti sung on Sankashti Chaturthi praises Lord Ganesha, the son of Parvati and Mahadev, the one-toothed, kind-hearted deity who rides a mouse. The aarti describes his virtues, requests his blessings to overcome difficulties, and emphasizes gratitude and devotion.

Chant these mantras during the puja for spiritual benefit:

  • Om Shri Ganeshaya Namah

  • Om Gan Ganpate Namah

  • Vakratunda Mahakaya Suryakoti Samprabhah

  • Om Ekadantay Vidmahe Vakratundaya Dhimahi Tanno Danti Prachodayat

  • Om Siddhi Vinayakay Namah

Observing Sankashti Chaturthi with devotion and performing the aarti can bring prosperity, remove obstacles, and fulfill wishes.
