Trouble for Maharashtra's "beloved sisters"! 6.8 million Accounts have been closed; if you don't have e-KYC, get it done soon

Maharashtra Ladki Bahin Yojana: 6.8 million accounts were closed under Maharashtra's "Ladki Bahin Yojana" due to non-compliance with e-KYC. The government has extended the deadline to April 30th, providing relief. Accounts may be reactivated.

Significant news has emerged regarding the Maharashtra government's "Ladki Behen Yojana." The accounts of approximately 6.8 million beneficiaries under this scheme have been closed. The reason cited is that these individuals failed to complete the mandatory e-KYC process within the deadline.

According to government officials, a total of 24.3 million accounts were registered under the scheme. However, approximately 6.8 million of these accounts failed to complete their e-KYC by March 31st, resulting in their temporary closure. The number of active accounts under the scheme has now dropped to approximately 17.5 million.

The government has extended the last date for e-KYC.

E-KYC, or online customer verification, is a crucial process through which the government ensures that scheme benefits reach the right individuals. Therefore, it was made mandatory for all beneficiaries to complete this process on time. However, the government has extended the deadline for e-KYC to provide relief to the public.

Beneficiaries can now complete their e-KYC process until April 30. Officials say that those who update their information within this new deadline may have their accounts reactivated.

People should complete their e-KYC as soon as possible – Government

The government believes this move will increase transparency in the scheme and eliminate fake or inactive accounts. Those whose accounts have been closed have been urged to complete their e-KYC as soon as possible to continue receiving benefits. This decision has caused concern among beneficiaries, but the extension of the deadline has given them another opportunity.
