With digital payments becoming the norm, many people no longer carry cash in their wallets. Sometimes, they don’t even realize that their wallet doesn’t contain a single coin. According to Vastu Shastra, keeping an empty wallet is considered highly inauspicious and may invite financial instability. It is believed that Goddess Lakshmi becomes displeased when a wallet is completely empty, which can lead to loss of prosperity.
Money plays a vital role in life, and the absence of it can create difficulties. Vastu says that an empty wallet symbolizes financial emptiness. To avoid this, one should always keep at least a one-rupee coin in the wallet to attract abundance.
It is also believed that keeping a small coin wrapped in red cloth helps retain positive energy and prosperity. And when discarding an old wallet, never throw it away empty. Place a few rice grains in it, and then transfer those same rice grains to your new wallet to bring good fortune.
Do not gift an empty wallet
Many people hesitate to gift wallets, assuming it may transfer their wealth to someone else. Vastu Shastra denies this belief, but it adds one important rule: never gift an empty wallet. Always place a small amount of money or a coin inside. Rice grains can also be used if coins aren’t available, as akshat (rice) is considered sacred and dear to Goddess Lakshmi. This small gesture is believed to invite prosperity for both the giver and the receiver.
