Every employee sets aside a portion of their salary for their future. The Employee Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) will soon allow employees to withdraw their PF funds directly through UPI. This will eliminate the need for employees to visit the bank for PF withdrawals. The process will be easy. However, if you don't do the following five things, you won't be able to benefit from it.
If you plan to use a portion of your salary as a pension in the future, consider the following points. This will make your transactions easier.
The EPFO has introduced an auto-settlement system for eligible claims up to Rs 5 lakh, making PF withdrawals easier and faster. Experts say that if there are any errors in your records, you won't be able to take advantage of these new features. Often, delays in PF withdrawals aren't due to regulations, but rather to errors in your bank account, mobile number, or job record. Therefore, pay attention to the following five things.
1. Activating your UNA is crucial.
If you want to withdraw PF using UPI under the EPFO 3.o system, you must activate your UNA. Otherwise, you won't be able to access KYC, PF withdrawal, and digital services. Ensure that your password and registered mobile number are correct.
2. Check your Aadhaar number and PAN number.
Your name, date of birth, and other details in the EPFO records must match your Aadhaar card. You can withdraw PF online only if your PAN and Aadhaar are linked and verified with your UAN. Otherwise, you may face higher TDS deductions when withdrawing PF.
3. Keep your bank account and UPI information updated.
The bank account number, IFSC code, and account holder's name on the EPFO portal should not be incorrect. Incorrect or closed account information could result in money being lost. Therefore, link the correct account number to the account.
4. Keep your mobile number active.
OTP is crucial for UPI transactions. Try to keep the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar, UAN, and UPI active. If possible, use the same mobile number everywhere.
5. Update employment records and nominees.
Check that the employment information in your EPF account and your old PF account is updated correctly. If the e-nomination information is incorrect, you may face several problems. If there are any changes in the family, update the nominee information immediately.
