Thyroid disorders are more common in women than in men. The major reason is hormonal changes that occur during menstruation, pregnancy, and menopause. The thyroid gland produces hormones that regulate energy, metabolism, heartbeat, and mood. Thyroid issues are mainly of two types:
• Hypothyroidism – when the gland produces too little hormone
• Hyperthyroidism – when it produces too much
When thyroid levels become unbalanced, several body functions get affected. In such situations, the yoga practices recommended by Swami Ramdev can be helpful.

Thyroid issues can occur due to many reasons. The most common cause is an autoimmune disorder, where the body's own immune system attacks the thyroid gland. Other reasons include iodine deficiency, irregular lifestyle, stress, family history, and hormonal imbalance.

Bhastrika Pranayama
This fast and deep breathing technique provides more oxygen to the body and stimulates the thyroid gland. It improves blood circulation and helps correct hormonal imbalance. It also reduces stress, tiredness, and lethargy.
Kapalabhati
This forceful exhalation technique stimulates digestion and increases metabolic rate. It activates slow hormonal functions and helps regulate thyroid imbalance. It also supports weight management.
Matsyasana (Fish Pose)
This pose stretches the neck and throat area, directly stimulating the thyroid gland. It helps lower stress and anxiety, both of which can worsen thyroid problems. Regular practice also strengthens throat muscles and supports hormonal balance.
