The ongoing war between the US and Iran has created problems with LPG in the country. The government is making every effort to improve supply. Since the war began, the number of piped cooking gas connections has been increasing rapidly. Now, in a tough decision, the government has asked people to replace their LPG connections and cylinders with PNG connections.
LPG supply will be stopped in phases.
After the notification of the Central Government, the process of returning LPG connections has started. The Uttar Pradesh Government has issued clear instructions that in areas where piped cooking gas, especially PNG, has started becoming available, LPG supply will be stopped in phases. This will affect other states as well. The government's aim is to eliminate gas shortage in urban areas and connect maximum number of families with safe, affordable PNG service.
According to an order issued by the government, consumers who have already obtained a PNG connection must return their LPG cylinder and connection within three months. If a consumer retains their LPG connection after receiving a PNG connection, strict
action will be taken against them. Therefore, consumers must voluntarily return their LPG cylinders to the relevant agencies within three months of the activation of their PNG connection.
It is mandatory to return the LPG within three months.
The administration says that a single family cannot have two different types of gas connections at the same time. After getting the PNG connection and the gas supply starting, the consumer is required to return his LPG connection within three months. On the instructions of the government, oil companies have also issued a final warning of three months in this regard. The administration argues that having two connections in the same house is a waste of resources and can also pose a security threat.
If their gas supply is cut off,
oil companies have clearly stated in their final warning that if a customer does not return their LPG connection and cylinder within three months of obtaining a PNG connection, their gas supply may be cut off. The companies have also clarified that once a customer's PNG connection is activated, their LPG refilling service will be discontinued.
Relief from the worry of sudden gas shortages
The government aims to reduce the backlog of LPG bookings and resolve the current problems in cylinder supply. The main objective behind this is to improve the supply of cylinders in areas where providing PNG connections is proving difficult. PNG not only ensures easy and hassle-free supply of gas, but is also cheaper than LPG. Furthermore, it also eliminates the hassle of booking gas refills and the worry of sudden gas shortages.
You'll get your security deposit back.
If you live in Uttar Pradesh and already have a PNG connection, it's best to return your connection and cylinder to your distributor within three months. To do this, you'll need to visit the respective distributor's distributor in person, fill out an application form, and return your cylinder. Once you return the connection, you'll get your security deposit back.
The government has directed oil companies to identify customers who have not returned their LPG connections despite having a PNG connection and who have been using both connections for a long time. Accordingly, the companies have issued instructions to their distributors, and now the distributors are launching a campaign to identify such connection holders.
